MADE TO LAST

Window Installation August 2021

Our recent window display was inspired by the Banksy hysteria that swept across many Norfolk seaside towns in August of this year.

Understandably, the draw of crowds was great for our local tourism, being a great talking point of the summer, however we couldn’t resist using it as a springboard for an installation. We thought it was pretty funny that the council suddenly wanted to protect a piece by Banksy, but would happily paint over another artist's work in the same location. Our installation is an oxymoron, commenting on the ephemeral and strange nature of graffiti/street art. Our tongue and cheek version depicts a worker on his break reading the paper, ciggy in hand and a meal deal, whilst failing to complete the job at hand. Perhaps this is a metaphor for something larger than itself....We’ll leave that one with you.

*Just to clarify, we are big lovers of Banksy, some of you may remember seeing original prints in our shops over the years…

Woody the worker is wearing a Sunspel hoodie, DsQuared painted jeans and Danner boots.
